Additional tips

[edit]

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Kilimanjaro

[edit]

Hi. I would be looking either at the late January - February or late August - September timeframe for any attempt on Kili. I would do Mt. Kenya first for acclimitization although there's an alternate in Tanzania. RedWolf 05:12, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC)

Gluehwein vs mulled wine

[edit]

Hi Metlin, there is already an article mulled wine. I would suggest to move your text there and make Gluehwein a redirect (replace text with #REDIRECT [[mulled wine]]). Regards, Kosebamse 18:05, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I have done that now. Please feel free to extend that article. Regards, Kosebamse 17:17, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Sanskrit Wiki

[edit]

Hi do you want to revive the Sanskrit Wikipedia? Please let me know if you have the time. Thanks GizzaChat © 11:43, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You can help in any way you want to. I think it is important to write a few paragraphs on the crucial articles that all encyclopedias need. There is a list on simple wikipedia simple:Wikipedia:List_of_articles_all_languages_should_have here and here is a Indian themed list at Hindi Wikipedia. Thanks for taking interest. Blanca Peak photo

[edit]

I am curious about the photo of Blanca Peak that you uploaded. The perspective does not seem right. Are you certain this was taken from the summit of Mt. Lindsey? It appears to have been taken from on of the unnamed 13ers between the two summits. Thanks Meniscus 05:46, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your follow up, sorry it has taken me awhile to respond. The lead photo on Blanca Peak was taken by me from the summit of Mt. Lindsey. It appears as though the picture you uploaded was taken on the approach to the summit of Lindsey and not from the summit as the caption suggests. Your image is a valuable addition, but I would like to change the caption, what are your thoughts? Meniscus 01:10, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, I made the changes. Meniscus 16:42, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, CSD G11 (the spam criterion) talks about blatant, unsalvageable spam, and refers to content not topic: any article on someone obscure could be thought of as spam on the basis of its topic, but only articles with useless spam content are supposed to fit G11. I think the person in question may well be notable per WP:BIO. Take it to AfD if you want, and see how it goes. Mangojuicetalk 04:41, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, part of the idea of speedy deletion is that articles that are deleted speedily should be ones where very little subjectivity is needed: when judgement calls have to be made, that's when it makes more sense to use a full process. Mangojuicetalk 13:17, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Riemann Sphere

[edit]

I replied on my talk page about that.

And just a note. It should be "Riemann sphere" and not "Riemann Sphere". Per WP:MoS, one should not use capitals in article names and section headings. So one should write for example

==Article contributions==

instead of

==Article Contributions==

That's a small style note I wanted to tell you about. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 06:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I further replied on my talk. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 16:44, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Khaldei Goering.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Khaldei Goering.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Iamunknown 05:06, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
